April Results Attendees We had a cold start but the sun was out and warmed up as the day went on. We did a bunch of scenarios that Mac Traven found
on the internet. Also we played with the can throwers that were brought to try out. The people who tried it said that it was
fun and challenging. Rick Perkins did well for his very first Cowboy Action Shoot. Raven Luntic and Ghost Shooter came by to see our match. Denis Lamontagne and family came to see the Cowboy Action Shooting.
We hope we put on a good show and that they will return and shoot with us in the future.
We all had fun getting out our guns and shooting. Some of us did well and some had some problems, but that
is why it is good to get out and shoot so we can work the bugs out now. Mac Traven brought up two can throwers that he put together from metal that Pete Gabriel donated. (Thanks,
Pete!) The can throwers are small shotgun targets and we are thinking of using them as a knockdown with a bonus if you hit
the can. That way we can practice with them, without penalty if you are too slow to hit the can or have trouble leading it. The first scenario was shooting your shotgun to get the banditios to leave. And using your pistol. After cleaning
them out you became Doc Holiday and replayed the scene in the gambling hall with Ike Clanton and made him dance. We had some
Nevada sweeps and some double and triple tap shooting as well as a choice of how to shoot as long as all the steel was double
tapped.
For our first shoot we had quite a few clean stages! The following people had a clean stage and it earned them a $1 off
a future shoot for each clean stage. The winners are: Tony Ringo with two clean stages, Pete Gabriel with three clean stages,
T.W. Reynolds with four clean stages and Black Jack Spencer with three clean stages. If you see them around give them congratulations. This year, we have ordered buffaloes that will be painted white so that if you get a clean match you will get a white buffalo
to wear. New Year Schedules and Ambush Posters The 2008 shoot schedule posters need to be distributed to all your favorite haunts to attract more cowboys!
Please help put up posters!!! We now have the Ambush posters ready to hang. If you already have the 2008 posters up please
go back and ask if you can hang the Ambush poster. Thank-you for all your help! With your help we can help Whispering Pines Cowboy Committee grow!!!! 9th Annual Ambush at Hickory Ridge We would like you to get your local merchants involved in sponsoring our club. If you have anyone you
wish would offer a gift certificate or prize, please contact them or if you are shy, contact Bonnie Lass with the information
(address and or phone number) and she will beg for you. (I have found that some major corporations decide their support in
the first quarter of the year, so if you have someone in mind, the sooner I have the information, the sooner it will go out
and I may get us the prizes). Prize Donations The following prizes have been donated for the 9th Annual Ambush
at Hickory Ridge: Redding Reloading has donated two ½ off certificates. Thank-you!!! Wild West Mercantile has donated two $25 gift certificates. Thank-you!!! our Saturday night feast. Custom catering will provide us with 2 entrees : stuffed chicken breasts, sliced beef , mashed
potatoes and gravy, corn , baked beans , rolls, cobbler, and sodas and coffee for $13 per person. This requires us to raise the cost of the shoot to $45 for the first shooter, $35 for each shooter
over 13 years old and each extra dinner only will be $13. (Buckaroos and younger will cost $13 for their dinner.) We need to have a way to feed the masses the rest of the weekend. West
Branch suggested that we take up propane grills and make hot dogs and burgers on them. We could also offer soda and chips.
Any ideas about breakfast on Saturday? If you have any other ideas or agree with this one, please let Mac and
Bonnie know, through email or phone.
Next Shoot is May 4, 2008 We will set up for the May shoot on Saturday May 3, if Mac is available.
If you want to check if we will be setting up please call 723-8885 and ask for Mac or Bonnie. If you help set up you will
be able to practice the scenarios for Sunday. We will start sign in at 8:30 AM and have the safety meeting at 9:30 AM. We
will shoot lead at 10:00 AM. Please come join us for a great time! We are trying to keep down the cost of postage, if you have email please
send it so that we can email your newsletter. Thank-you for your co-operation!! To all who have given us their email address,
Thank-you!!!! |
